To quote a 12 year old girl . . .

This was posted on Simple Savings today.

Please take just 5 minutes of your time to watch what she says at the ONU. She speaks for me and my children so very well ~ do remember what you were thinking about when you were 12. Here is a very brutal reality check.

Save me repeating myself...

Since July 2007, we have pretty much become a single income family only it has usually been me working. Had a car accident a few years back - was a doozy ~ across a six lane highway, in pouring rain, car bursts into flames, dude trucks up and extinguishes, tipping his acubra before disappearing into the darkness!! So surreal.
So wish he'd hung around to say what happened...

Add a couple of motorbike offs, some drunken tumbles down muddy hills of varying proportions, coupla kids and the slow disgraceful entrance into getting a little longer in the tooth ~ turns out I'd been carrying several fractures on the right side of my spine.

There's all the technical medical terminology but briefly said - had major invasive surgery, fusion & clean up in the ol' back September 08 - while it would be ideal to recover in 24 months, considering the extent of damage and time unattended - realistically, it's going to take up to 4-5 years...

Six months in ~ pain medication has reduced, therapies have begun, brain is beginning to return ~~ I am SO bored... must be getting better!

Eighteen months in ~ how on earth did I even think I could cartwheel twelve months ago, six months ago for that matter!?! Just did 3 cartwheels today - all good - maybe two to many. OK ~ now I must be getting better...

22 months in ~ pottering and catching up on two years of house-work. Learning moderation, patience and smiling again. Pain medication lowered, therapies increased, driving a car ~ with freedom comes little chores, detours and seeing the progress to wellness starting to show...

Husband has just concluded the 5-6hr daily commute and is home, local and loving it ~ early days :D

25 months in ~We are, for a short term, welfare recipients ~ managing(?!) on approximately $500pw *gasps* Tipping you will be hearing about it It's actually been planned as Our Mission ~ and we are recording the de-clutter, budget juggling, rubber food and other ways we pay down our debt, set change into place and ultimate achieve our dream.
