A Whale of a time . . .

Pic by me 10/09 whale watching ~ similar to what got my attention Saturday

We saw a whale 'frolicking' at the beach!  Honest!!

Heading off to Kingscliff (NSW) we were leaving our accommodation at Wyndham and it was there in the waters at Kirra Beach.  Almost across from the pub.  It was splashing, rolling, having a real ol' pectoral-fin slap side to side, semi leaping out of the water to get a bit of a 'bomb' into the sea.  I counted at least 6 times the whale came up out of the water, using the tail to (like) lob itself up and then twist over to splash down on its back.  After a few of those, it went under and came up with a good old spurt and whack of the tail on the water ~ I don't think it was fully grown, young or adolescent maybe if this is the time for it.  There was no-where to park, many already blocking the road a little, we had to continue on...

Husband was driving, this being our first venture in the car through Kirra/Coolangatta on a Saturday morning with maps, gps' and actual streets just not agreeing with each other.  Sadly I think he saw little, if any of the remarkable display  *sighs*  The upside to an hour of trying to work out "where the bloody hell are we?" was the SmallBoy and I seeing a whale for quite a bit of time.  Didn't even think of getting the camera(s) out to take pics, it was too amazing.  We've seen whales before out at Surfers' I think, maybe it was the Gold Coast - this time last year.  That was one thing I could do last year because I could sit and stand as required, but no walking, climbing or stepping was needed!

Wow ~ quick side thought - two weeks until I am two years post op.  Doing rather well methinks!!

Leaving a low of minus whatever, it was a lovely way to start Husband's de-stress and change to go to warmer states, catch up with old friends, family and meet new friends.  Blessings, gifts, love and happiness ~ man you can't get better than that.  And it's not too horrendous back home either ~ damp, wet, chaotic and soggy yes, but not that bitterly icy horrible chilly cold we left...

Part of the get together allowed the SmallBoy to get a reading and a spirit picture ~ rather insightful and not too predictive considering information that may or could be imparted.  More a look inside and ways to bring out the best.  One very strong message was his wisdom ~ his picture held host to a small (young) white owl, his guide has a feeling of times very old, unknown - the time of Egyptians ~ those we assume through our (modern) interpretation of the old symbols, actions based on those of our own today.  Zebioch is child-like, maybe fairy (SmallBoy said not here, like an alien) and many Glowies commented there was a 'likeness' to the SmallBoy but not quite.  There was a lot of purple in the picture, one of SmallBoy's favourite colour ~ he had picked an amethyst bracelet for himself which was sadly lost in the Clarence River behind the Clarence Coast Visitors Centre (and Cafe and rest rooms!!) at MacLean, skimming clay flats across the water.

Zebioch showed SmallBoy having an inventive mind, thinking beyond the 'square' looking laterally.  I agree that in the now he does see the 'light in darkness' - because where no hope seemed possible for a little one, there now is more than just hope, the action is there too.  Also seeing the good in 'bad' people ~ he agrees he does that, even if only to try or check for certain. *grins*  Love that way he identifies with what was said.  It was interesting to note he "gets bored at school because his mind is working beyond the curriculum" and "needs extra mind stimulation".  Part of me says yes, a little says if he applied a little more he would be leaping above the curriculum, but he is short-cutting so the 'evidence' teachers need to make that judgement is not there.  I'll support him however I won't "do" it for him and I will get him applying the details required using the computer as it does have that 'attraction' ~ he whipped through drawing up his 'lotus diagram' for his project whereas it took days to prise the information out and onto paper to start providing the evidence for his methods and choices.

The artist had taken me aside too and suggested using the computer as an aide, a tool to get feelings and thoughts down.  Maybe he'd like to do a diary.  Might look into finding something suitable for the pre-teen to journal their thoughts privately, not ala a blog.  Have one for the project ~ enough thank you!

School hey ~ wish I had a computer in primary school.  Secondary even.  At home, not just an Atari or Commodore 64!  High tech thems were!!

The holiday's over, a wee holiday tan
Finally back in Normality Land

It was warm and so sunny, over too fast
A shame to return to this icy blast

Playing catch up while washing out sand
Putting away things, opening mail and

Checking the chooks, gathering eggs
Pretty soon it will be time to climb into bed!
